Le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean reçoit ses drapeaux des mains du gouverneur général

Le 21 mai 2011, le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean (CMR Saint-Jean) s’est vu remettre ses drapeaux par Son Excellence le très honorable David Johnston, gouverneur général et commandant en chef du Canada, lors d’une parade officielle au CMR Saint-Jean à Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Lors de cette cérémonie prestigieuse, les drapeaux du CMR Saint-Jean, se composant du drapeau de la Reine et de celui du CMR Saint-Jean, ont d’abord été consacrés par l’aumônier principal de l’Académie canadienne de la Défense, le Lcol Guèvremont, puis présentés au Collège par Son Excellence. Le Commandant de l’Escadre des élèves-officiers et de la parade, l’Élève-officier Benjamin Legault, a reçu les drapeaux au nom du Commandant du CMR Saint-Jean, le Colonel Guy Maillet. La parade, qui soulignait également la fin de l’année scolaire, était formée des élèves-officiers portant l’uniforme traditionnel.

Le Collège a reçu pour la première fois le drapeau de la Reine et celui du Collège en 1961. Il a ensuite reçu un nouveau drapeau de la Reine en 1969 et en 1977, puis un nouveau drapeau du Collège en 1979. Tous ces anciens drapeaux sont conservés au Musée du Fort Saint-Jean sur le site du Collège.

Royal Military College Saint-Jean Receives its Colours from the Governor General

The Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) received its Colours on 21 May 2011 from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, during a formal parade at RMC Saint-Jean, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

During the pristine ceremony, the RMC Saint-Jean Colours, composed of the Queen’s Colour and the Royal Military College Saint-Jean Colour, were first consecrated by the Senior Chaplain of the Canadian Defence Academy, Lieutenant-Colonel Alain Guèvremont, and then presented to the College by His Excellency. Officer Cadet Benjamin Legault, the Cadet Wing and Parade Commander received the Colours on behalf of the RMC Saint-Jean Commandant, Colonel Guy Maillet. The parade, which also marked the end of the academic year, was composed of officer cadets in their traditional uniforms.

The College first received the Queen’s and the College Colours in 1961. New Queen’s Colours were presented in 1969 and in 1977, and a new College Colour was presented in 1979. All former Colours are kept at the Fort Saint-Jean Museum on the College grounds.
