Each year since 2007 Canada has hosted a five day Seminar on Civil-Military Relations for senior security officials from around the world. And each year the final day of the programme is spent at RMC.
On Friday 13 May, this year’s 31 participants, who represented 29 countries, were welcomed by the Commandant, Commodore Truelove, who introduced them to RMC. Presentations by and discussions with the Principal, Dr Joel Sokolsky, on American CMR, Dr Peter Bradley on ethical issues of CMR, and Dr Lawrence McDouough on defence and security education followed.
The Seminar exposes its participants to Canada’s CMR ways and means, and offers them the opportunity to present a brief overview of CMR in their own countries. This year, representatives of 26 countries made contributions.

RMC student earns Rhodes scholarship
“Studying at RMC definitely helped me get the Rhodes scholarship. The other applicants have done a lot of volunteer and community work. On the other hand, the Canadian Forces represent an ultimate form of community work, since, by enlisting, we are giving several years of our lives to our country, and that is what made the difference for me,”
