Subject: Request from National Archives about RMC Class Books
12 January 2009
To: Tim Sparling, Vice-President, Ottawa Branch of RMC Club of Canada
From: Norm Sherman, Book Project Leader, RMC Class of 1956
Subject: Request from National Archives for information on RMC Class Books
Dear Tim:
I checked on the receptiveness of my contact at the National Archives to your offer to place a notice in “e-Veritas” calling upon Class Secretaries or persons responsible for RMC Class Books to make themselves and their Books known to the Archives.
Tom Smyth, the Acquisitions Librarian for English monographs in the Legal Deposit section of Library and Archives Canada, would be delighted to hear from ex-Cadets who may be able to help him acquire copies of books highlighting the careers of those who have attended the Royal Military Colleges of Canada. He became aware of the existence of such books when the Class of 1956 donated a copy of our Book, “Then And Now”, with biographies, obituaries, pictures of Classmates from 1956 juxtaposed with ones from 2006, and illustrations of scenes and memorabilia of the Colleges. He liked our Book, and would like to add more such Books to the collections in the Archives.
