This fall, the Class of 1979, a.k.a. the TDV79ers — the only class in history to provide the CAF with two Chiefs of the Defence Staff! — will join the Old Brigade. To mark this momentous and historical event in a truly unique fashion, the class is producing a book, If I Knew Then What I Know Now…: Class of 1979 Memories.
The centrepiece of the book is a chapter comprising 79 anecdotes on life as a cadet, written by members of the class. These anecdotes are drawn from the class‘s website, https://www.tdv79ers.ca/, a focal point of communication and source of information for all those who at some time were in the class that graduated in 1979 from one of the then-extant Canadian Military Colleges — the Royal Military College (RMC), the Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean (CMR), or Royal Roads Military College (RRMC).
Also included in the book are Then and Now photos of the TDV79ers, and a chapter dedicated to the members of the Class of 1979 who are no longer with us.
The intended audience are the TDV79ers, however, any other college alumni (or their family members, or friends) who are interested in purchasing a copy of this sure-to-be-a-Governor-General’s-Literary-Award-winning book ($50 plus $20 shipping) are invited to contact Class Secretary Dr Richard Gimblett at gimblett12173@gmail.com.
Deadline for placing orders is 15 March, and books will be available for in-person pick-up at RMC Kingston on Reunion Weekend 13-15 September ($50 price option) or mailed the following week ($50 + $20 = $70 option).
