EGGENS, Jack Lambert Of Guelph, passed away suddenly at the Guelph General Hospital on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the age of 77. Beloved husband and best friend of 51 years to Pat Eggens. Loved father of Juanita Eggens (Jessie Pepper), Michael Eggens (Michelle Broydell), and Jennifer Eggens (Jack Hancock). Loving grandpa “Poppy” of Ryan, Xavier, Arya, Hannah, and Jeremiah. Will be fondly remembered by Jack and Pat’s family. Jack was a graduate of the Royal Military College in 1960, and the University of Guelph in 1970. He was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Horticulture, OAC, University of Guelph (Guelph Turfgrass Institute). Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Thursday (2-4 and 7-9 p.m.). Funeral service will be held at St. David and St. Patrick’s Anglican Church, 520 Speedvale Ave. E., Guelph on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph. Memorial contributions to the Dr. Jack L. Eggens Scholarship, Guelph Turfgrass Institute, University of Guelph, Guelph, ON, N1G 2W1 would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Jack L. Eggens in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
