Le Chapitre Québec de l’Association des Ancien(e)s des Collèges militaires royaux du Canada (Association) a tenu son BBQ annuel le 8 août au Cercle da la Garnison à Québec. Nous avons eu le plaisir d’accueillir environ 60 invités. Étaient présents Messieurs Tyler Forkes et François Bureau de l’Association. Des membres de deux chapitres voisins étaient représentés : Monsieur Jacques Gagné, président du Chapitre Ottawa, et Messieurs André Pronovost, Michel Dagenais, Pierre Chevalier, André Richard du Chapitre Fort St-Jean. Madame Carolyn Hug, ex-présidente du Chapitre Fort St-Jean, vivant maintenant à Québec, y était aussi. Messieurs Steve Gregory (gouverneur au CMR St-Jean) et John Hannan, tous deux du Forum international Paix, Sécurité et Prospérité (PSP) nous ont aussi fait le plaisir de leur présence. L’invité d’honneur de notre événement était Madame Hélène Ladouceur, récemment intronisée au Temple d’excellence du CMR St-Jean. Hélène a vécu une carrière et une implication de plus de 50 ans au CMR St-Jean. Elle a vécu bon nombre des moments clés de l’existence de l’institution et est sûrement la personne qui la comprend le mieux. C’est, en quelque sorte, un peu la marraine de tous les élofs passés au collège dans les dernières décennies. Ce fût un immense plaisir de la revoir, de lui témoigner notre respect et appréciation et d’échanger avec elle.
Le président du chapitre, Monsieur Denis Faubert, en a profité pour expliquer les trois vecteurs d’action du chapitre soient les rencontres sociales, le programme Québec PSP s’adressant aux élèves du secondaires et plus récemment, sous le leadership du chapitre Fort St-Jean, le programme de développement professionnel des élofs. Les deux dernières activités ont aussi des liens avec le programme Résilience Plus des collèges militaires canadiens. Messieurs Grondin et Giguère ont donné quelques précisions à propos du programme Québec PSP et remercié tous les partenaires.
La météo a bien collaboré, le repas était excellent, mais surtout, la camaraderie a fait vibrer les cœurs. Nos plus sincères remerciements à Madame Catherine Paquet et Monsieur Serge Gaudreau pour l’organisation de ce bel événement
The Quebec Branch of the Royal Military College Alumni Association (Association) held its annual BBQ on 8 August at the Garrison Club in Quebec City. We were pleased to welcome about 60 guests. Mr. Tyler Forkes and Mr. François Bureau from the Association were present. Members from two neighbouring Branches were also there: Mr. Jacques Gagné, President of the Ottawa Branch, and Mr. André Pronovost, Mr. Michel Dagenais, Mr. Pierre Chevalier and Mr. André Richard of the Fort St-Jean Branch. Mrs. Carolyn Hug, former President of the Fort St-Jean Branch, now living in Quebec City, was also present. Mr. Steve Gregory (Governor of RMC St-Jean) and Mr. John Hannan of the International Forum for Peace, Security and Prosperity (PSP) were also in attendance. The guest of honour at our event was Mrs. Hélène Ladouceur, who was recently inducted into the RMC St-Jean Hall of Fame. Hélène has been involved with RMC St-Jean for over 50 years. She has lived through many of the key moments in the institution’s existence and is certainly the person who understands it best. She is, in a way, the godmother of all the students who have attended the college over the past decades. It was a great pleasure to see her again, to show her our respect and appreciation, and to talk to her.
The President of the Quebec Branch, Mr. Denis Faubert, took the opportunity to explain the three vectors of action of the Branch: social gatherings, the Quebec PSP programme for secondary school students and, more recently, under the leadership of the Fort St-Jean Branch, the professional development programme for officer cadets. The last two activities are also linked to the CMC Resilience Plus programme. Mr. Marc Grondin and Mr. André Giguère gave some details about the Quebec PSP programme and thanked all the partners.
The weather cooperated, the food was excellent, but most of all the camaraderie made hearts beat faster. Our sincere thanks to Mrs. Catherine Paquet and Mr. Serge Gaudreau for having organized such a nice event.
