RMCC Highly Visible in Edmonton
Co-Chaired by Dr. Alice Aiken, Associate professor at Queen’s and Director of CIMVHR, and Dr. Stéphanie Bélanger, associate professor at RMCC and Associate Director of CIMVHR, the MVHR Forum 2013 (Edmonton, 25-27 Nov) hosted over 125 research oral and poster presentations on topics ranging from post-traumatic stress disorder treatments to traumatic brain injury studies to the transition from military service to civilian life. The presence of key RMCC personnel spoke tons about the support of our university behind this initiative that brings together hundreds of researchers from 30 different universities across Canada. CIMVHR is an innovative organization co-funded by Queen’s and RMCC that engages existing academic research resources and facilitates the development of new research, research capacity and effective knowledge translation. The institute serves all Canadian stakeholders interested in military and Veteran health research and acts as a conduit between the academic community, government organizations (eg. National Defence and Veterans Affairs Canada), industry and similar international organizations.

Le CMRC est bien représenté à Edmonton
Co-présidé par Alice Aiken, PhD, directrice de l’ICRSMV et professeure à Queen’s, et Stéphanie Bélanger, PhD, directrice associée de l’ICRSMV et professeure au CMRC, le Forum RSMV 2013 (Edmonton, 25-27 nov.) a accueilli plus de 125 présentations scientifiques orales et par affiche portant sur des sujets qui vont du syndrome post-traumatique aux études sur les blessures traumatiques au cerveau en passant par la transition du service militaire à la vie civile. La présence de personnel-clé du CMRC a mis en évidence le soutien de notre université derrière cette initiative qui réunit des centaines de chercheurs provenant de 30 universités à travers le Canada. L’ICRSMV est un organisme co-fondé par l’Université Queen’s et le Collège militaire royal du Canada; innovateur il relie les ressources académiques et facilite le développement de nouvelles recherches, de capacités existantes de recherche et de traduction de connaissances. L’Institut est au service de toutes les parties prenantes présentant un intérêt dans la recherche sur la santé des militaires et des vétérans, tout en représentant un lien entre la communauté académique, les organisations gouvernementales (Ministère de la Défense Nationale, Anciens Combattants Canada), l’industrie, et d’autres organismes similaires. La durabilité du programme de recherche de l’ICRSMV est assurée grâce à un financement public-privé et une visibilité accrue auprès du public.
