“I was told that the situation was growing increasingly dangerous with warlords, rebels and others blocking safe passage to Carstensz Pyramid. Instead of exposing ourselves to that direct threat we decided to cancel. I hope to return again soon to attempt this climb, if the mountain is ever reopened to foreigners.”
