Major Kelvin Earl Hamilton, CD, (RMC 1994) will be retiring from the Canadian Forces on 9 March 2009 after 25+ years of dedicated service as an Aerospace Engineer. He will continue to lead change and provide capability within the Department of National Defence as a Public Servant. As a Direct Entry Officer (DEO), Major Hamilton joined the Canadian Forces in July 1983 after graduating as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Saskatchewan. In August 1994 Capt Hamilton and family proceeded to the Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario where he completed his Masters of Mechanical Engineering in Electro-Optical systems. His thesis addressed EW detection techniques to counter advanced missile systems. Major Hamilton was the team lead for the CF188 Armament systems within the Fighter Trainer (FT) Directorate in August 2008. Seconded for several months to the Transport & Helicopter (TH) Directorate, Major Hamilton coordinated a multi-unit team to deliver an improved CH146 escort capability to Afghanistan and returned to FT in February 2009. To acknowledge his career and wish him well as he moves on to a second career in the Public Service, a retirement luncheon will be held on Friday the 13th of March 2009 at Minglewoods Tap & Grill (14 Waller Street) commencing at 1130 hrs.
