Bogotá Conference
Un groupe d’experts à travers le monde, dont le directeur et les membres du comité exécutif du chapitre européen de la Société internationale en éthique militaire, des représentants d’Organismes non gouvernementaux, des chercheurs, ainsi que des militants pour la paix, ont participé au Deuxième symposium international d’éthique militaire à l’École supérieure de guerre (Escuela Superior de Guerra) à Bogotá, en Colombie, du 7 au 11 octobre 2013.
Stéphanie Bélanger, du département d’études françaises au Collège militaire royal du Canada et de l’Institut canadien de recherche sur la santé des militaires et des vétérans, a été invitée à y présenter ses recherches sur l’impact du nouveau manuel d’éthique sur le comportement et l’identité des militaires au combat. Elle est photographiée ici entre le Major général Javier Fernández Leal, directeur de l’école supérieure de guerre de l’armée colombienne, et le Colonel Carl Marowski, directeur du programme d’éducation militaire et éthique pour l’armée chilienne.
Cette contribution canadienne est importante et il est souhaitable qu’elle se renouvelle afin non seulement de prouver le sérieux que le Canada attache à sa relation de sécurité et de défense avec la Colombie, mais aussi afin que notre université s’impose sur la scène nationale et internationale dans le domaine extrêmement important de l’éthique militaire.

A group of experts from around the world, including the director and the executives of the European chapter of the International Society for Military Ethics, some representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations, some researchers and some militants for peace, participated to the Second International Symposium in Military Ethics at the School of Superior Military Education (Escuela Superior de Guerra) of Colombia, in Bogotá, 7-11 October 2013.
Stéphanie Bélanger, from the Department of French Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada and of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research, was invited to present her research on the impact of the new Ethics Manual on the behaviour and identity of military personnel in combat arms. In the photo above, she is between Major-General Javier Fernández Leal, Director of the School fo Superior Military Education of the Colombian Army, and Colonel Carl Marowski, Director of the programme of military education and ethics for the Chilian Army.
This Canadian contribution is important and it is hoped that it will be renewed not only to reinforce the importance that Canada gives to its Security and Defence relation with Colombia, but also to allow our university to impose itself on the National and International scene in the very important field of military ethics.
