Congratulations on completing such an important milestone in your development as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. Although it was many years ago, I can still remember my pride in marching off the parade square for the very last time. One thing I have taken with me from that day is the connection with my classmates, and of course, the college. I have often said that my classmates are some of the finest people I have ever known. That is as true today as it was in 1984.
Remember and keep those connections with your classmates as you move forward in your careers. You will be all the better for it.
And as you move forward, never forget the incredible responsibility each of you now have: To provide the type of leadership each of your sailors, soldiers and airmen/airwomen deserve. Be the leader that they aspire to be. Lead them, and you and they will do great things.
Congratulations again. Enjoy this moment.
