5792 WR (Bill) Barry – Class of 1963

It is with great sadness that we inform you that on October 5, Bill Barry passed away in the Regina General Hospital, surrounded by his family. I would like to thank all of you for all you have shared with Bill over the years and for staying in touch with him throughout the years. His passing was quick, and relatively painless.

At his request there will be no formal funeral, although the family has agreed on a celebration of Bills life sometime in the spring of next year. On the finalizing of the obituary we will forward that too you as well. Any support you wish to give can be forwarded to the SVWM.ca website, as that was Bills pride and joy. Thanks again for everything you have brought to Bill’s life and for years of stories and news that you have shared with him.

Best Wishes from all of Bill’s family

Don Jones RCNC 6 – Celebration of Life – Friday, October 23rd, close to 1045 -1100  at Beechwood Cemetery

Hello!

This is Alison Jones. I am Don Jones’ daughter and I’ve been looking to see if there have been any announcements regarding Dad but haven’t seen any to date, (I may have missed it over the summer).

I very much regret to inform you that Dad passed away the evening of June 1st due to complications while recovering from a brief illness in hospital. I had thought someone might have contacted your office to advise the club but it seems that didn’t happen, so my apologies for the delay. I’m not sure of the protocol to follow but wanted to contact you to start the process.

My brother David and I are planning a Celebration of his life on Friday, October 23rd, at Beechwood Cemetery and invite his RMC comrades to attend. We are still finalizing the exact time but are looking at the Celebration beginning close to 10:45 am to 11 am, followed by a reception and finally, interment with military honours for both my Dad’s and Mother’s ashes in the National Military Cemetery.

I was thinking of his commitment to the RMC Club for so many years and the pride and pleasure he had with his association and friendships with the Club, and thought especially about him this last weekend during the Reunion activities in Kingston. He would have been talking about going to the event and would have tried very hard to be there. I feel sure he was there in spirit.

Would you please send out a message to the Ottawa members inviting those who knew Dad to the Celebration? Please feel free to include my email if anyone should wish to confirm or obtain more information – alison.jones@sympatico.ca. Would you also please keep me on your mailing list as it is and was an excellent source of information for keeping up with the activities and contact with the Club? They can also call 613-796-4228 (cell) or the house at 613-731-6752 (after 8 rings) and leave a message.

Thank you and I hope this reaches members in time as I know it’s a busy time of year. Dad would be pleased to know some of his mates were able to come.

Sincerely,

Alison Jones for – Don Jones RCNC 6
