WITHERS, Jean Alison
25 March 1933 – 19 October 2011
Peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday 19 October, at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, Jean Alison Withers (née Saunders) entered into rest after her valiant struggle with cancer. The daughter of Samuel Franklin Saunders and Jean Cameron Mackenzie, she was born in Toronto on 25 March, 1933. Both her parents and her sister Ann Cameron (Saunders) Miller are deceased. She is survived by her brother James Franklin Saunders (Ann) of Orillia, Ontario. She leaves to mourn and be thankful for her life her husband and soul mate H2951 Ramsey Muir Withers, her children James Scott Withers (Caroline), Leslie Susan Gray (Paul), Deidre Ann Brown (John) and her grandchildren Rebecca and Iaian Withers, Samantha and Erik Hunter, Lauren and Kristen Schultz, Justine and Laine Brown, Paul, Emily and Erin Gray. She will also be missed by many friends including “The Steel Chestnuts” (also Army wives who have been close for over fifty years) Barbara Preston of Victoria, BC, and Jane Shaw of Ottawa. Everyone should know that her incredible sense of humour was with her to the last. Family and friends are invited to the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood avenue, Ottawa on Wednesday October 26, 2011 from 10:30 followed by a Celebration of Life in the Sacred Space at 11 a.m. In memoriam donations should be to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
