6777 Michel Charron, ’66 finally got to spend more time golfing, playing tennis and travelling following his retirement in 2006 from a second career in IT Management consulting. He also saw his family grow with the addition of six grand children, a source of joy, pride and attention. His family remains a priority for him and Louise especially during the deployment of his two sons to Afghanistan and their frequent postings. Not being one to remain idle professionally, he now sits on the CMR Saint-Jean Board of Governors as the RMC Club representative and has been appointed Colonel Commandant of the C&E Branch in May 2011.

Depuis sa retraite en 2006, de sa deuxième carrière de consultant en gestion informatique, il a finalement pu passer plus de temps au golf, au tennis et à voyager. Il a aussi vu sa famille s’agrandir de six petits-enfants, une source de joie, de fierté et d’attention. Sa famille demeure une priorité pour lui et Louise surtout lors du déploiement de ses deux fils en Afghanistan et lors de leurs fréquentes mutations. Voulant demeurer alerte professionnellement, il siège présentement au Conseil des Gouverneurs du CMR Saint-Jean en tant que représentant du Club des CMR et il vient d’être nommé Colonel Commandant de la Branche C&E en mai 2011. 

4100 Jacques Choquette, ’59 retired from the Québec Municipal Affairs Commission in 1998.  Ever since, he has kept fit and busy raising funds  for the Valcartier Family Centre.  Over the years, a growing network of benefactors has been built.  Some 700 participants attended the last fund-raising gala “La Criée d’automne”  which brought in some $300 000 in revenue.”

16442 Bill Griffis, ’89 now works full time in Shanghai, China with the Shanghai Aircraft Customer Service Co. Ltd. – which is part of COMAC, the Commercial Aviation Corporation of China. He is currently the Senior Manager for Training Development. From 1997 – 2005, he was a Training Development Officer working out of the Training Development Centre in Borden. He has worked with the Army, Navy, Air Force in designing job specifications, qualification standards, training plans, and instructional systems design strategies – where he recommend the most effective training strategy to achieve maximized, optimum-cost performance in minimum time. He says, “I know it sounds like a line, but when I developed a specialty in eLearning years ago. I had to ensure that our military schools incorporated eLearning properly into their curriculum so that physical skills and mental attitudes could still be properly developed and trained to meet the diverse training requirements of the CF.” As a result of his experience, China hired Bill to help develop training for the two planes being built by COMAC: The ARJ21 and the C919.

17884 Shannon Matechuk, ’91 retired from the Regular Force after 20 years in 2008 to become a Public Servant in DND at CFB Wainwright.  He deployed to Somalia (1993) and to Afghanistan (2009-2010) as a Reservist. Upon return from Afghanistan, he resumed Public Service life and moved to his 160 acre retirement farm 50 km East of Wainwright Alberta with his wife and best friend of 20 years, Lara, and their two wonderful daughters Kyra and Erika, four horses, two dogs and two cats. In April 2013, Shannon will be leaving the Public Service due to the DND Work Force Adjustment and will be pursuing a Power Engineering certification for a career in the Alberta Oil and Gas Industry.

18201 Stephen Little, ’92 has recently joined Mitel, a global provider of business communications and collaboration software and services, as Chief Information Officer. He is currently located in Ottawa.

18351 Paul Jackson, ’92 graduated in 1992 from RMC and was posted to Victoria to work on HMCS Yukon, Vancouver and Regina as a MARS officer.  In 1995 he married Stacy Thomas, from Virginia.  Paul left the Navy in 1997 to join Smith Barney in Raleigh NC and has remained with the firm since (now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney).  Paul and Stacy moved to Seattle in 1999, then returned to the East Coast to Boston.  Paul is a Senior Vice President – Corporate Client Group Director, looking after personal finances of global high net worth families and managing stock compensation for public companies.  For the last eight years Paul has been recoginzed as a top Wealth Manager in the US. Paul and Stacy have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son with a small ‘domestic pet zoo’ at home.  They like to take the kids on road trips and explore.  Paul continues to surf, snowboard and sail and is hoping his family gets hooked on the same. Paul set up an ‘ex-Cadet in the US’ Linkedin subgroup as well as a ‘Class of 92’ subgroup for those on Linkedin.

19142 George Forward, ’95 took command of Formation Logistics in MARLANT on June 29th, 2012 following his recent tour as Task Force Commander, OP SATURN, in Darfur, Sudan in a ceremony presided over by Rear Admiral David Gardam.  Responsible for logistics support across Joint Task Force Atlantic, Cdr Forward is looking forward to meeting the challenges of supporting myriad of units across the East Coast and an evolving RCN.


21847 Blair Saltel, ’00 is currently the Executive Officer of HMCS IROQUOIS – holding the rank of LCdr and having moved with his wife, Melissa, to Halifax in April 2012.

24465 Nevin McFarlane, ’10 graduated from RMCC in 2010. Since then he spent a year at the Naval Officer Training Centre at CFB Esquimalt completing his MARS training. In June of 2011 he and his wife, Kim, were posted to CFB Halifax where he serves as a Bridge Watch Keeper under training in HMCS TORONTO. He has followed TORONTO through her tiered readiness program and is preparing to sail for work-ups in September.
