The students of Dr Erika Behrisch Elce’s ENE100-3 – Introduction to Literature and University Writing Skills class are proud to announce the publication of their collection of poetry, “We Earn Our Name: Poems in Honour of Remembrance Day”. This book grew out of a class assignment, in which the students wrote sonnets on behalf of men and women connected with RMCC, many of whom lost their lives in the line of duty. The students had the opportunity to speak about and on behalf of their chosen subjects, and what resulted was a deeply respectful homage to the courage and sacrifice of these members of the Canadian Forces. The poems range from World War I to the war in Afghanistan, and from National Leaders such as Currie and Mackenzie to the unsung Lieutenants of the French Front, and throughout they reveal the core College values of Truth, Duty, Valour. Through the generous support of the John Bart Leadership Fund, these poems are now being offered for general sale, with 100% of the proceeds to be donated by the class to the charity Soldier On.

The books are for sale for a suggested price of $10, and are currently available only in limited edition. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, please contact any of the student contributors listed below.

We Earn Our Name : Poems in Honour of Remembrance Day.
