Short recaps on holiday functions & more Branch news…

Over the holidays, at least four Branches held “Meet & Greet” type socials which included: Ex Cadets (and their significant other); cadets (and their family & friends); and potential ROTP applicants with their parents.

The Manitoba Branch were first off the mark with their Annual Christmas Cocktail which was held 12 Dec. Previous e-Veritas article here.

Christmas Meet & Greet hosted by the Hamilton Branch Dec 19, 2014

The Niagara Region ex-cadets thoroughly enjoyed hosting serving cadets at HMCS Star on the shores of Hamilton Harbour. Informal conversation followed by “stories” from individuals provided a convivial atmosphere and a spirited contact between all.

Cadets from CMR and RMC, accompanied by their family and friends, totaled 17.

Ex-Cadets and spouses totaled 16, coming from as far as Fort Erie, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Mississauga.

For the 2nd year in a row, we were unable to attract applicants to the Colleges. It has been baffling to encounter difficulty from CFRC for such a “team-building” event.

The Branch will look forward to doing it again in 2015.

At the NS Branch reception on Sat the 27th of December, we had a number of ROTP applicants and their parents in various stages of the process. In total, we had 26 people in attendance. This included several graduates,

the oldest being 2745 Don Cleveland and the youngest being 24047 Lt(N) Joseph Poon who graduated in 2008.

As we didn’t have any cadets from the Colleges in attendance, Joseph did a great job in answering the many questions about the college, college life and the applicant process.

The Vancouver Island Branch will be sending along a recap of their 29 Dec for our next Issue of e-Veritas.

We are aware that the total attendance was 70, including 8 Cadets and four potential applicants.
