Congratulations to Business Administration students

On Saturday 29 Jan 2011, students from the Business Administration program participated in Certified Management Accountant’s (CMA) Ontario’s University Case Competition. In RMC’s second appearance, the team came 8th out of 24 teams from across the province.

Samedi le 29 jan 2001, 4 étudiants du programme d’administration des affaires ont participé dans une compétition d’étude de cas pour tous les universités de l’Ontario avec l’ordre des comptables en management accrédités de l’ Ontario (CMA). Pour la deuxième année de suite l’équipe du CMR s’est mesuré à 24 équipes et elle a fini en 8e place.

Winter Sports Day

The weekend (4-5-6 Feb) marked the annual exchange between cadets of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and cadets of the Royal Military College of Canada at Kingston, Ontario. Contingents from both institutions crossed the border to participate in a very memorable weekend.

The USMA cadets arrived at RMC on Thursday afternoon, just in time to get their kit into the New Gym and eat supper at the CDH. They were then met by their host cadet in the New Gym, and got set up in their host’s room. They then changed for the meet and greet in the formal mess, a place they became well acquainted with, before spending the night on their issued cot. Cadet and host got up and went to class on Friday, and often were asked by professors where they were from, and a few other polite questions before class started. That evening there was a cultural exchange at the formal mess, where they had the opportunity to play mini-hockey and socialize. The following morning was the annual Winter Sports Day. After a brief parade, West Point cadets joined their host squadrons to compete against each other in various sports for points in the Commandant’s Cup competition. The outcome of the games was ultimately a day of good fun, making them part of a successful tradition to be repeated for years to come. That evening, there was a “WestPoint Weekend Party” featuring live DJs from the college.

Sunday morning came all too soon, and it was time for the USMA cadets to head back south to watch the Super Bowl. RMC and USMA cadets exchanged pins at an informal ceremony in the New Gym, and parted ways. Everyone who took advantage of this opportunity carried with them exchanged ideas, stories, and customs that allowed them to broaden their perspectives.
