Opportunity to help the RMC Alumni Association – Request for Focus Group Participants for Museum Feasibility Study

The RMC Alumni Association has committed to provide philanthropic support for the Royal Military Colleges Museum Corporation’s (RMCMC) construction and operation of a new museum that will showcase the history and achievements of the Canadian Military Colleges and its alumni.

The museum will be located on the grounds of the college in Kingston, Ontario, and will feature interactive exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia, and educational programs. We know the museum will be a huge source of pride and inspiration for current and future students, staff, faculty, alumni, and visitors.

RMC Alumni Association Presentation to the CMC Review Board

The Alumni Association’s perspective is rooted in evidence-based research. This submission was developed with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the Alumni Association’s research and advisory partner, selected through a competitive RFP process. The submission incorporates the guidance of an independent expert Steering Committee, external to the Alumni Association, which was tasked with guiding, directing and challenging the development of recommendations.

RMC Alumni Association Presentation to the CMC Review Board

The Royal Military College Alumni Association represents all persons who have attended a program at the CMCs – including thousands of alumni with lived experience of the ROTP. We serve both the alumni – including active-duty CAF members and veterans – as well as the current officer and naval cadets of the Colleges to provide peer support, guidance, mentorship, financial resources, and promotion of the history of the Colleges. Thus, the Alumni Association has a unique perspective to contribute to the work of the CMCRB.

Responding to the CMC Review: Towards Renewal Seven Propositions for Renewal of the Canadian Military Colleges

The Canadian Military Colleges Review is an opportunity to respond to the issues identified in Recommendations 28 and 29 of the Arbour Report while implementing changes and innovation that preserve the CMCs and enhance their capacity to produce leaders for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

The RMCAA strongly believes that officer and naval cadet education at the CMCs should be continued and that the CMCs require systematic renewal to modernize the training offered and make needed cultural changes. In developing propositions for renewal of the CMCs, the RMCAA Steering Committee (the SteerCo), in collaboration with RMCAA’s consultants, has considered numerous streams of data and evidence.

The Royal Military Colleges of Canada Alumni Association’s (RMCAA) proposals maintain the fundamental structure of the Cadet Wing operating in an academic degree granting setting. The proposals identify substantial reforms to modernize the training approach, support needed cultural change, and recognize fundamental changes that have occurred in Canadian society over the past fifty years.
