Very sorry to learn of Mel’s passing. While I do not recall crossing paths with him as a gunner, I enjoyed working with him at NDHQ during his civvy career – his willingness to help, his sense of humour, and his readiness to call BS what it was. RIP Mel. My condolences to his family.

I consider Mel to be a friend and comrade in arms.
Great sense of humour and always professional in garrison and in the field.
I am sorry I did not see Mel in his last days.
    Ubique and good shooting Mel

    Bryan
