RMC congratulates Commodore Josée Kurtz who will be appointed commandant of RMC this summer, following today’s announcement of Senior Appointments by National Defence HQ. Promoted to MGen on April 26, Lise Bourgon (announced in early March as incoming Cmdt of RMC) is now Deputy Commandant of the Military Personnel Command in Ottawa. Truth. Duty. Valour.

I was MSEO on Provider when Cmdre Kurtz arrived on board with three other young women in 1991 for Bridge Watchkeeping training. It was clear to me then that she was an exceptional junior officer who would excel in her endeavours. This was confirmed to me when I read of her appointment in command of HMCS Halifax. Chère Madame Kurtz,
Mes félicitations pour votre scintillante carrière dans la Marine et votre nomination récente comme Commandante du CMR. Quant à moi, je suis un octogénaire. jadis promu des CMR-RMC, avec un penchant littéraire depuis toujours. Tardivement certes, depuis 2013, j’ai eu souci de financer au CMR les deux prix annuels d’excellence en littérature, histoire d’en motiver les deux lauréats (Franco + Anglo). Sachez déjà que ce sont les élofs Océane Rhéaume et Malcolm Ross qui s’avèrent les lauréats 2021, la remise virtuelle (pandémie oblige) des prix venant d’avoir lieu le 14 mai courant. Cela étant dit, vous vous trouvez déjà au parfum de l’existence des prix de littérature au CMR. C’est inattendu… et donc mieux imprimé dans votre mémoire… probablement !
