I think the caption “RMC Saint-Jean 1971” should be “CMR Saint-Jean 1970” ; name and year do not seem to fit.

The pictures were taken from Le Défilé 1971 yearbook.

My first comment has been deleted. So, here is a repeat.

Côme Rozon is right. I remember 80% of the guys shown in these pictures.

The guys in the red tunic were Second Year OCdts when I arrived at CMR in Sept 71. The guys in the blue tunic were First Year OCdts when I arrived. These pictures do not show anyone who arrived at CMR in 71. They were taken in the winter/spring 71; as was always the process for the publication for any annual Défilé yearbook.

The first pictures showing those who arrived at CMR in Sept 71 in an annual Défilé yearbook were taken the following winter/spring; as part of the Défilé 72 yearbook published in the summer time.

A bit more trivia. The majority of those shown in the first two pictures were in Vaudreuil Squadron when we arrived in Sept 71. Those in the next two pictures were in Hudson Squadron.

Those of us who arrived at CMR in Sept 71 first show up in annual yearbook in the Défilé 72 yearbook..

Would be pictures taken in the fall of 1970 at CMR , yes, showing up in the yearbook (Defile) at the end of that academic year, being spring 1971.

As mentioned these are the Prep Year / First Year Photos at CMR with the year starting in 1970 and finishing in 1971. Everyone is “right” with “First Year” Derek Lovlin being the “most right”. Six squadrons in three buildings so you tended to see everyone in your building on the most regular basis. After Prep Year there were about 50-60% of the Preps remaining to go into the 1971-1972 First Year, so there was some movement into other Squadrons of the new First Years for the 1971-1972 year, to even the numbers out, and usually, there you stayed. I was moved from 4 Squadron to 6 Squadron, to even numbers out, or was it because I was put on “waivers” by 4 Squadron and 6 Squadron had “last pick” of the guy who was always on crutches? Time has hidden that reason.

P.S. The names of the Squadrons are wrong and if I remember right, there were two flights to each squadron. There was never a 7th & 8th flight. Does it matter … not a bit. Still great memories
