Homecoming 2024 at Royal Roads University took place on September 14 & 15th and was a memorable celebration, uniting former Royal Canadian Naval College Royal Roads, Tri-Services and Military College alumni, former staff, and the community under the theme “Honouring History – Inspiring Change.”

The weekend kicked off with a warm welcome reception of over 130 ex-cadets, featuring speeches reflecting on the university’s proud military heritage and its evolution into a changemaking university with a focus on leadership and innovation. Attendees enjoyed Building Tours with a visit inside the Grant & Nixon Block and tour of the Farm featuring the newly opened Japanese Teahouse.  The weekend continued with the Homecoming Soiree in the Quarterdeck, Mast Site Ceremony & Circle walk, lead by the 78th Fraser Highlanders.

This year, we proudly celebrated classes marking their 30, 40, 50, and 60 years since entry and classes celebrating 30 and 40 years since graduation. A special highlight was welcoming Dr. Robert Stairs, who entered in 1942 and shared his recollection of how our campus had evolved since his time as a young cadet.  Another notable highlight was the commemoration of 44 new paver stones at the Mast Site area. These paver stones are a wonderful way to honour individuals associated with Royal Roads from 1940 to 1995. You can place an order and receive your charitable tax receipt today online through Canada Helps.

More information on the Paver Stone Project is found in the following link: https://www.royalroads.ca/about/history-traditions/heritage-projects/paver-stone-project

Save the date!  Homecoming 2025 September 13 & 14th.

While these dates conflict with the 2025 RMC Reunion Weekend, the RRU Homecoming emphasizes the entry year of RRMC ex-cadets.  This would engage a larger group of your “buds” at the Homecoming and will avoid a scheduling conflict with those of you that graduated from Kingston or Saint-Jean.

My Father, Archie Beare, year of entry 1952, was there in Spirit. Well done all for keeping the Roads memory alive. Heads!
