Well apparently it was the first day of Spring though you wouldn’t have known it as the snow fell on the Cadets and spectators during the Commandant’s parade. With 835 cadets on Parade, the 2nd Commandant’s weekend was a great success. The cool temperature and light snow did not detract from a great turnout by the Cadets.
The College was honoured to have Mayor Rosen as the Reviewing Officer and to be joined by MGen Gosselin, Commander CDA and Col Fawcett, BComd, CFB Kingston.
During the parade the Commandant handed out several decorations and awards. The BComd presented a BComd Commendation and the third year class presented the Mayor a cheque of funds raised to help clean up local parks and to build a new Play structure.
The Class of ’09 also commemorated the Gauthier Bell in front of the Frigate. Well done to all involved for a great Parade; another important step as we head towards Graduation in May.

The Cadet Wing held the annual Colour Party competition on Saturday morning.
Under overcast skies and cooling temperatures, the Commandant and RSM joined the crowd to see the final 3 three teams compete for the Honour. It was a very close competition which demonstrated a great deal of hard work and commitment by all the teams. Well done to the winning team from 5 Squadron.

III YEAR CLASS – SETTING HIGH BAR(S) IN LOCAL COMMUNITY

For a couple years now, the third year class project has consisted of preparing the city’s public grounds for the summer by performing seasonal maintenance tasks such as cleaning up, painting, and landscaping parks in and around the city. This year, the class of 2011, has amended the project.
As a class, we are not only going to clean parks, but we are also fundraising money, here at RMC and in town, in order to add a new playground or replace an existing one in Kingston.Different fundraisers have taken place here at RMC during the past month for example bake sales, parking raffles and dress down weekends.
A team of OCdts of the RMC class of 2011 has also been designated to look for sponsors in town. Two more fundraising activities will take place at RMC in the weeks to come.
On the 23rd and the 24th of March, a silent auction featuring a variety of items donated by local stores, will be held in the library. The last fundraising activity will be a civilian day which will take place on Thursday the 1st of April. The cost for this activity will be 5$ for third year standard and 10 $ for fourth year standard (jeans). Stickers for this event can be bought in the cafeteria during lunch a couple days prior to the event or can be purchased through OCdt Gaulin-Riffou, OCdt Bellerose (UTPNCM) and Lt(N) Comisso (Academic staff and mil wing).
