We were all shocked and saddened to hear of the terrible tragedy in Vancouver on Saturday evening at the Lapu-Lapu Festival. While at this time we don’t believe any of the victims were alumni, we know that heartbreaking incidents such as this have a ripple effect on the whole community. On behalf of the Board and staff, please know that you are all in our thoughts at this very difficult time.

It is comforting to know that Canadians including the RMC Alumni Association share the pain of the peace and fun-loving Filipino-Canadian community in this very difficult time. As a proud member of both groups, I appreciate the expression of sympathy and support to the grieving community. It was a tragic event and does not represent the entire Candian society. Nevertheless, it will leave irreversible change and lasting memory to the affected families.
