The Weeks Monument at CFB Kingston’s “Matheson Gate” on the Northwest of the Base on Hwy 15 has remained under-developed for a number of years. The Weeks Monument memorializes Major-General Reg Weeks, known as the father of the Intelligence Branch. The Matheson Gate was identified as the location for the Intelligence Branch Home Station Monument in 2021.
Plans were originally put into place to move the Canadian Forces School of Intelligence and Security (CFSIS) Cairn from CFB Borden to the site, but an inspection of the Cairn in 2022 identified that its wooden superstructure had rotted away, rendering the Cairn unmovable. With this unfortunate hurdle in place, the Kingston Real Property Operations Detachment Kingston team “found a way” to mitigate and was instrumental in the planning and execution of having a new Cairn constructed to mark the Intelligence Branch Home Station. Now complete, this will be a site for the Intelligence Branch to celebrate and recognize its history and heritage for years to come.

Le monument Weeks, à la porte « Matheson » de la BFC Kingston, du côté nord ouest de la base donnant sur l’autoroute 15, est demeuré sous développé pendant un certain nombre d’années. Le monument Weeks commémore le Major général Reg Weeks, connu comme étant le père de la Branche des services du renseignement. La porte Matheson a été désignée comme emplacement du monument de la maison-mère de la Branche des services du renseignement en 2021.
À l’origine, des plans avaient été mis en place pour déplacer le cairn de l’École du renseignement et de la sécurité des Forces canadiennes (ERSFC) de la BFC Borden au site, mais une inspection du cairn, faite en 2022, a constaté que sa structure de bois avait pourri, ce qui rendait le cairn impossible à déplacer. Malgré cet obstacle malheureux, l’équipe du Détachement des opérations immobilières de Kingston a « trouvé un moyen » d’atténuer le problème et a joué un rôle crucial dans la planification et l’exécution de la construction d’un nouveau cairn pour souligner la présence de la maison-mère de la Branche des services du renseignement. Cela tant fait, ce sera un site ou la Branche des services du renseignement célèbre et reconnait son histoire et son patrimoine pendant des années.
