Update from RMC Club

Submitted by: Executive Director Bryan Bailey

The entire team at Panet House hopes that all the eVeritas readers are enjoying a wonderful summer; it is very hard to believe that July has come and gone already. With the arrival of August, planning and preparation for the Reunion Weekends in September will be kicking into high gear. This year, the classes ending in “0” and “5” will be celebrating milestone reunions and we are pleased that registrations are ahead of normal for this time of year.  This bodes well for great weekends in both Saint-Jean and Kingston.

New Honorary Club President

The Club is exceptionally pleased to announce that H2652 Colonel A.B. (Brit) Smith, MC, CD, QC has accepted the Club’s offer to become the Club’s next Honorary Club President, subject to AGM ratification. Brit Smith is an ideal choice for this Honorary Officer position given his many and varied contributions which have benefitted the Club, Colleges, and Cadets. A proud member of the Class of 1938, he graduated in 1940 and immediately joined the war effort. Notably, he received a Military Cross in recognition of his actions during the Normandy campaign. In addition, he is a former Club President (1983-84) and his record of philanthropy has been exemplary. Without question, he is most deserving of the honour of Club Honorary President of the Royal Military Colleges Club of Canada.

Reunion Weekend Golf Tournament Early Bird Deadline looms

The early bird registration period is less than two weeks away! To date, 50 individuals have already registered for the Club’s inaugural golf tournament which is a great start. The early bird deadline is 15 August; all teams and individuals registered before the 15th will be entered into a draw.  One team of four and one individual will win a refund of their registration fees. The best odds of winning is to register as a team.

We are also excited to announce that Porter Air has agreed to sponsor the event and they have provided two travel vouchers (with a maximum value of $2,500) which will be raffled off as one of the major tournament door prizes.  Only registered golfers will be entitled to participate in this draw.

Organize your own team of classmates, pick a zany team name, win a great prize, and enjoy yourselves while competing for the Cup!

$10,000 Sword Contest Update

There was an excellent response to the contest and the Club received 20 quality submissions all of which have the potential to generate $10,000 of additional revenue for the Club annually. The first round of scoring is complete and the final round will determine the eventual winner who will be announced shortly.
