Commandant, BGen Al Meinzinger recently noted in his weekly commandant’s report: “The annual HMCS ONTARIO summer programme is clearly underway and their “gung ho” leadership, positive Cadet attitude and especially the morning band performances are a very much enjoyable way to start the workday.”
Although the Academic year is completed the College continues to be in a dynamic mode with many other activities underway many of which have already been covered in recent editions of e-Veritas.
Some significant events which may have slipped through the cracks include:
The Applied Military Science (AMS) Graduation Ceremony was also executed with precision and another cadre of advanced members possessing the “AMS Advantage” are available to the CAF through this programme.
The US Consul General from Toronto, Mr. Jim Dickmeyer, also recently graced the College with a two-hour familiarization visit.
The Principal, Dr Harry Kowal has had a pretty busy last few weeks. He attended the University of Manitoba Senior University Administrators course from 14 to 20 June; Convocation at Canadian Forces College in Toronto on 26 June. He was also participated at the Annual Ottawa Golf Tournament this past Friday (11 July). Other members of his foursome included the commandant, BGen Al Meinzinger; Col Karl Michaud, Head AMS and Bryan Bailey, Executive Director, RMC Club.
Director of Athletics, Mr Darren Cates had an opportunity to catch-up on some Professional Development from 23-25 June in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He visited the Athletic Departments of three universities, LaSalle, Drexel and Temple, and met with officials from each institution.
The commandant, BGen Meinzinger attended the CFC Convocation in Toronto in his capacity as Vice-Chancellor. He represented the Chancellor, Minister Nataionl Defence, The Honourable Rob Nicholson was unable to attend due to other essential commitments.
Most of the military staff will be on Block Leave from 14-25 July.
