RMC graduates were prominent among the several authors recognized recently by the Canadian Nautical Research Society / Société canadienne pour la recherche nautique (CNRS-SCRN / https://www.cnrs-scrn.org/index.html) with prestigious Keith Matthews Awards which are presented for notable scholarly achievement in maritime history:

9884 Robert “Bob” Banks was awarded “Best Book published in 2023” for his Warriors and Warships: Conflict on the Great Lakes and the Legacy of Point Frederick (Dundurn / https://www.dundurn.com/books_/t22117/a9781459750777-warriors-and-warships [reviewed elsewhere in this edition]); and 12355 Ian S. Yeates received an “Honourable Mention” for his article “’Admiral Jellicoe Goes to Sea’: The Naval Mission and the Ambition for an ‘Imperial Royal Navy’,” published in the Society’s journal The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord 33:1 (Spring 2023 / https://tnm.journals.yorku.ca/index.php/default/article/view/1082).

They are pictured receiving their awards from 12173 Richard Gimblett, Past President of the Society and current Chair of the Awards Committee.
