The Kingston Military Community Sports Dome (KMCSD) located on the grounds of Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC) will have an official ribbon cutting opening ceremony – Saturday, 29 Sep at 1530 hrs.
Local civic leaders, senior military personnel from both Base Kingston, RMCC will be joined by a large number of others to officially open the state-of-the sports specific dome.
Following the formal presentations – a rugby match between the (M) Varsity 2s against Ex Cadets as part of the reunion weekend festivities will take place.

Triathlon Club ends season with Montreal Esprit Triathlon

On a sunny Friday September 7th afternoon, five members of the RMCC Triathlon Club left the RMCC campus to travel to Montreal to scout out the race site for their upcoming Montreal Esprit Triathlon.
The team tested the waters of the Olympic Rowing Basin situated in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal, which would be where their swim portion of the race would take place the following day. The bike portion of the triathlon would be held on the Grand Prix race track, and the run to take place around the Olympic basin.
Unfortunately the skies of Saturday September 8th did not promise sunny weather, like the day before. With winds indicating a storm was on the way, the athletes were worried that the swim could be cancelled.
However by 1600hrs all five athletes had completed their races missing the hurricane by just half an hour! Even with very strong winds Nick Cosman placed 2nd/405 males in the Olympic distance and Trevor Davies placed 7th/405. With Nick and Trevor placing first and second in their respective age categories. Lesley Quinlan placed 5th/145 and first in her age category for the women’s Olympic distance, while Alida Stockermans placed 62nd/145 and seventh in her age category. Finally, J.C. Ouellet competed in the male Sprint distance where he placed 4th/323 and second in his age category.
Overall, all five RMCC Triathlon Club athletes produced outstanding results in Montreal despite the foul weather, ending the triathlon season with a triumph as they begin to ease into the off-season.

Rookies Push Veterans at Queen’s Invitational Cross Country Meet

Nineteen athletes from the RMCC Running Competitive Club competed on Saturday, September 15 at the Queen’s Invitational Cross Country Meet on the running course at the top of the Fort Henry Hill. The women’s’ race was 5km and the men’s’ was 10km.This was the first OUA meet of the season with some of the province’s best runners from Guelph and Queen’s in attendance. The team’s goal was to run the race as a training run in preparation for the Army run on 23 September.
The results for the most part met or exceeded expectations. Rookies stole the show as Michelle Begin-Major turned in the fastest time for the girls’ team followed closely by team captain Veronique Trepanier. On the men’s side, rookie Trevor Reid laid down a blistering 34:52 finish in the 10km race to come first for the men’s’ team. Fellow rookie Pier-Alexandre Lacasse turned up the heat on the final lap of the course to edge team captain Colin Shannon and finish second for the team.
In the team standings, both of the RMC teams finished last which was consistent with previous year’s results however all runners had a great experience and demonstrated great efforts.
