Garden Party

By: WJO

We attended the annual Garden Party which was held on Thursday, 10 September on the grounds of the Commandant’s residence and it did not disappoint.

The hosts were BGen Sean Friday and his wife, Ms. Anne-Lucie Bouchard.

A combination of senior military and faculty, prominent citizens from Kingston and the region joined a very large contingent from the Cadet Wing which made up the list of those in attendance.

Live and enjoyable music was supplied by two college bands; the highland dancers, as usual, added a nice touch.   There was an abundance of food / treats. There was so much food to sample that Rolande and I knew we had to be strategic in our choices of what to eat. Neither of us are sure that we were successful!

Another reason we enjoy the Garden Party is because it is a great opportunity to socialize. Each year it is extremely well attended and we always bump into friends and people we have not seen or chatted with for a while. Also, because of the everyday hectic pace at the college you do see people but most times do not have the time to take a breather and just chew the fat. This event accomplishes all that and more.

Congratulations to the staff from the Commandant’s office; for once again organizing this wonderful event. Last but not least, thank you to Sean and Anne-Lucie for the invitation.

Former UTPNCM Top Candidate on Basic Intelligence Officer’s Course

Howard G. Coombs, PhD – Assistant Professor – History & War Studies, Department had the pleasure of attending the graduation of the Basic Intelligence Officer’s Course last Wed, 9 September. Howard was thoughtful enough to send along the following good news:

A former RMC University Training Plan Non Commissioned Member (UTPNCM) and recent 2015 MSS graduate, M2079 2Lt Chris Jewitt, received the award for top candidate.

Chris also took quite a few academic awards at the RMCC 2015 Spring Convocation.

Special note: Thanks to Major Bruce Worrall and Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Ratte, the Commandant Canadian Forces School of Military Intelligence for providing the information. Photo credit: WO J.C. O’Leary of CFSMI

The annual RMCC Wing Harrier Race (WHR) took place this past Saturday – 12 September. The weather was rainy but not so much to dampen the enthusiasm of the cadets & staff – including military, civilian and faculty. The unofficial overall winner was – 26726 Pier-Alexandre Lacasse, 3 Sqn DCDL.

Final official results will be announced on the parade Square this coming Wednesday morning – 16 September.

Sports Day – Cut Short

The annual Sports Day was not completely aborted due to the weather. One activity that was not scheduled for outside was Bubble Soccer which was played in the Dome.

Squadron Pride 12 – Rainy Weather 0

The crappy wet weather on Saturday – when the Harrier race was run – under many circumstances would be an excuse for some organizations to go through the motions.

Not so, at RMCC. There was a good turn out of OCdts (and others) dressed in Sqn colours, wearing costumes, and simply enjoying themselves.

Take a good look at the many photos – Here.  It is pretty obvious that Squadron Pride easily defeated the weather!
