RMC Ex cadet Professor – Shares Prestigious Best Paper Award
15028 Dr. Paul Roman, Department of Business Administration
The Annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) promotes cooperation among the Armed Services, Industry, Academia and various Government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs, identification of common training issues and development of multiservice program which are increasingly including international partners. This conference traces its root to 1966 but has been operating at I/ITSEC since 1979. This year’s academic program comprised 134 peer-review papers in six tracks that were down selected from in excess of 350 abstracts initially submitted. Each track nominated three papers from which six are nominated for the best overall paper. A dedicated committee reviews the nominees and attends the paper presentation in order to select the overall winner.
This year’s conference was the first time a non-US academic paper was nominated as a best paper contender. Dr. Paul Roman (Department of Business Administration) and Mr. Doug Brown from the Directorate of Land Synthetic Environments were nominated for best paper from the Emerging Technology and Innovation track at the conference. Their submission: “Games- Just How Serious Are They?” was also the overall best paper winner. The final presentation of: “Games-Just How Serious Are They?” will be streamed from the conference website in early 2009. more
