Who Is He?

 

  • Former Redmen hockey player; played for both “The Major”, Danny McLeod & Tom Walton;
  • He obtained a BEng degree from the Royal Military College of Canada;
  • Obtained his LLB from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia;
  • He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association;

  • He has an extensive background in energy and natural resource law;
  • He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association;
  • He is a director of the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute and a director of the Conference of Defence Associations Institute;
  • Has served as a director of the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation;
  • Is a Past President of the Royal Military Colleges Club of Canada;

  • He received his M.B.A. from the London Business School (England) and his B.A. (with Honors) in economics and commerce from the Royal Military College of Canada;
  • Previously served as an infantry officer in the Canadian Army in Canada, Germany, and Cyprus;
  • He has worked as a management consultant and investment banker in Canada and Europe; An Adjunct Scholar of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy;
  • Speaks frequently on health reform on radio and television, and at meetings in the United States, Canada, and Europe;
  • He is the author of a number of studies covering topics as diverse as the regulatory burden of the Food and Drug Administration, the taxation and regulation of private health insurance, and the future of Medicare under Obama Care;
  • He is also the author of the U.S. Index of Health Ownership, the only project to rank all 50 states’ health laws and regulations according to free-market principles; and the editor of a book addressing What States Can Do to Reform Health Care: A Free Market Primer.
  • He has written articles about health policy for periodicals including the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post;
  • He is on the Board of Directors of the Benjamin Rush Society of medical students and physicians;
