14080 Andy Scott to coach Ex Cadets against West Point Alumni

Over the past couple of months a small committee headed by 24662 Jeff Oke has been making plans to host two ‘Alumni’ hockey games on the afternoon preceding the main event 23 Jan at the K-Rock centre in Kingston.
The two teams – one comprised of 40 and older players; the second 39 and younger will both play abbreviated games – two periods of 20 minutes stopped time.
If things go right – and they should. This will be the first ‘annual game’ – in 2017 the venue will move to West Point and flip-flop from year to year.
14080 Andy Scott a former player 1981 -83 (he spent years I & II at Royal Roads) and Paladins coach from 1996 – 2001 has accepted the role of Honorary Coach. Rob Riley who spent 19 years behind the West Point bench will carry out the Honorary role for the United States Military Academy Alumni.
Rosters have been pretty well set but the final selections will be announced by Oke in a few weeks.

Scott is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League; they are a farm team for the NHL Philadelphia Flyers.
Prior to coaching at the pro level, he has been the bench boss at the collegiate and junior levels. In his final year, at the RMC coach, the 1983 graduate led the team to its first ever play-off game and series victories in OUA competition.
It should be noted that he accomplished this using RO / RETP players only. We don’t recall if there were any Otter Squadron cadets during his reign. One thing for sure he did not use any Special Interest Only students.
The Paladins have not won a play-off game let alone a play-off series since he left. A post-season berth has been elusive for them for a number of years.
After moving to the United States in 2001, Andy took over as General Manager and Head Coach of the Central Penn Panthers Junior Hockey Club in 2005. Over his eight-year tenure, the Panthers amassed a regular season record of 218-85-17 (.708) and a play-off record of 34-19-2 (.636) within the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MJHL). Scott’s teams have captured four division championships, three regular season league titles, and one Keegan Cup play-off championship. His teams qualified for USA Hockey Junior Nationals on three occasions winning a silver medal in 2009. The Toronto native has been named the MJHL coach-of-the-year three times.
Andy Scott holds a degree in Engineering Physics from RMC and a MBA from the University of Ottawa. He resides in Landisville, PA with his wife 19476 Kelly (Johnson) and their two children Reagan and Owen.
