On behalf of the Royal Military Colleges Foundation Staff and Board of Directors I would like to sincerely thank all of the people who helped to make the 2011 Legacy Dinner a resounding success.

Firstly, I would like to thank the RMC Varsity Men’s Rugby Team. You have taken volunteer support to a new level! The courtesy, professionalism and dedication shown by the 15 members of the Varsity Rugby team were evident throughout the evening. Special thanks to OCdt Michael Akey who was the main point of contact for the Rugby Team. OCdt Akey displayed leadership and integrity and was a key to the success of the event. He handled all requests with efficiency, organized his teammates effectively and ensured that all that was asked of the team was carried out to the highest standard.

Our Master of Ceremony for the evening was Professor Sylvain Leblanc. Once again he volunteered his services and in his cool, efficient manner guided the evening through its myriad activities on time and with humour. This critical position can easily make or break the evening. Sylvain made ours.

Next, I would like to express my appreciation to Lori Alves-Macphail RMC Cadet Mess Bar Supervisor, Roch Carriere Cadet Mess Manager, and Dan De Beaumont SSM Manager for all of their hard work behind the scene in ensuring that the Legacy Dinner had an excellent serving staff. All aspects of their support went flawlessly, ensuring our success.

Once again the RMC Band lead by MWO Huppé, and the RMC Pipes, Drums and Highland Dancers lead by WO Heather awed the audience with an amazing showcase of talent. The performances put forth by these lady and gentlemen cadets was of the highest level and thoroughly enjoyed by the Legacy Dinner guests.

As often is the case, the members of the RMC Labour Crew were the unsung heroes of the event. Incredibly busy during the days leading up to and during the weekend, they never failed to respond to a request for assistance in their normal cheerful, can-do attitude. Kevin Fitzpatrick and Gary Veley are commended for their unwavering behind the scenes support.

Finally, I would like to thank the guests and the donors who attended the 14th Annual Legacy Dinner and once again proved the value of this event. To the Donors of the RMC Foundation, your generosity is evident every day in the lives of the Officer Cadets and students that benefit from your gifts, and they are grateful for your generosity. To our sponsors this year: Platinum Level Sponsor Canso Investment Counsel Ltd, Silver Level Sponsors: Empire Life, KEDCO, Weatherhaven, and Table Sponsors: Toronto Branch of the RMC Club, MaxSys, and Raytheon Ltd, thank you for providing the support that is giving us the funds to “Enhancing Excellence” at our Colleges.

As the Executive Vice-President of the RMC Foundation, this was my first Legacy Dinner. Witnessing the months of planning, discussion, coordination and execution of this event by the staff I have the extreme pleasure of working with is truly remarkable. Under the stewardship of Jennifer Jordan, every minute detail was considered and planned to the finest level, despite the hectic day to day office activity. Their dedication to the success of this organization is both inspirational and humbling. I am proud to be a member of their team.

In closing I look forward to having another very successful Legacy Dinner next year, and anyone wishing to book seats can do so by calling the Foundation office at 613-541-6000 ext 6807, or by sending us an e-mail at info@rmcclubfoundation.ca
