Was runner again today. I think that Favell looks more like a corpse in the morning than anything else. Chief told me today that Ward was going to Royal Roads. He told me that I had beaten Ward decisively but that my name couldn’t be cleared through Ottawa and Trenton in time, so Ward goes in my place tomorrow. I’d have given anything to go to Royal Roads. The same thing happened to Jim Graham with the rifle team; we are both pretty well browned off. Freddy Joyce tells me that the date he had got me from Minden was sick & couldn’t come.
