Busy summer for RMCC fencing coaches

July is usually a slower month for most fencing coaches in Canada, but for David & Patricia Howes its shaping up to be very busy and rewarding.

Patricia Howes, who is the head coach of the RMCC fencing program and the junior women’s sabre national coach, was selected to be the coach and team leader for Team Canada at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju Korea. This is her second time leading the Canadian team at this event as she was also the coach for the 2013 Games in Kazan, Russia.

David Howes, who is the head coach of Cutting Edge Fencing, is also the national coach for the Canadian women’s epee team. He will be with his team at an international training camp in Katowice Poland prior to travelling to Moscow for the 2015 Senior World Championships. Immediately following world championships, the Canadians will fly back to Toronto on July 19 for the Pan-Am Games where Howes will be coaching his team in the individual event on July 21 and the team event on July 24.
