U of M becomes “Top Gun” in Air Force training

The U of M was not the only university in the running, as the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont. was also bidding for the degree program, explained George Maclean, head of the political studies department at the U of M.

“The [U of M and RMC] actually had to meet with the [Air Force] staff at one point to make our ‘pitch’ for our university. At that meeting, we were able to convince the Air Force that our program had more opportunities and benefits,” he said.

Canadian snipers less stressed than average soldier: Study

“Unlike other soldiers who can deflect their responsibility for killing by rationalizing that they were led into battle by their officers, or had to kill in order to stay alive, snipers have more autonomy than conventional combat soldiers and often have discretion as to who they kill and who they don’t,” writes study author J. ‘Blast boxers’ now available in Canada

He was fired over his videos, but Capt. Owen Honors did the right thing

The videos are funny, at least to the right audience, the one that they were made for and that was, until now, the only one to see them. (They’re also clever, including “casting” ripped men as women for a shower scene and pasting Honors’s face on his “alter egos.”) And the increasingly conservative military does feel put-upon by civilian standards of political correctness – the captain tries to defuse objections at the beginning by announcing that “bleeding hearts” will disapprove. (How right he was!)
