AMS Graduation

By: Daniel Madryga

RMC’s historic Currie Hall has been witness to many convocation and graduation ceremonies and the Department of Applied Military Science graduation ceremony on 27 June was yet another day for celebration. After eleven marathon-like-months, the 28 graduates of the Land Force Technical Staff Programme and the Army Technical Warrant Officer Programme came together with their family and friends to receive their diplomas.

Dignitaries included, the Assistant Chief of the Land Staff, MGen Alan Howard, the Commandant of RMC, Cmdre William Truelove, the Dean of Engineering, Dr Philip Bates, the Director of the Department of Applied Military Science, Col William Lewis and this year’s Honourary Graduatue, LCol (ret’d) Doug Green.

During the dignitaries remarks, the was a reoccurring theme; the graduates will return to the Army with new skill sets that will permit them to successfully contribute to projects that will, in many cases, be specifically focused on ensuring the safety and security our our service men and women and fellow Canadians.

For their part, all of the graduates agreed; it was a very demanding course, with more than seventy deliverables, there was little time for rest and relaxation.

But like those who have gone before them; for the remainder of the careers, the new graduates will have benefited from the “AMS Advantage”.
