6195 Joseph Bruce McLeod (RMC 1964)

December 23, 1941 – March 28, 2009

6195 Bruce McLeod was a devoted follower of Jesus for over 35 years. His life was characterized by a passion for God that ignited all aspects of his life. Fun-loving, creative, and bright, this small town boy, raised in Mille Roches and Long Sault, Ontario emerged early as a leader at the Royal Military College and as an exceptional husband and father. He lived a life of accomplishment and dedication, occupying senior management positions with the St Lawrence Seaway Authority, and the Canada Cement Association. Bruce was best known for his visionary work establishing global ‘PartnerShips’ for Canada Steamship Lines, Asia. Gentle and loving, Bruce epitomized care and commitment first as a devoted husband to Mary, his wife of 45 years; as an encourager to his children Kim, Deanna, Allison, Robert, Lana and his grandchildren; Kevin, Madison, Finn, Avery, Cole, Ethan, Emma. As a favorite brother to his sisters Sally and Edna, his brother in law Norvan, as a deacon in the Catholic church, and, as a ‘beacon’ to the homeless of Ottawa. “He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out it’s roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; it’s leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8 Bruce, thank you for having the courage to live out your faith so fully. We celebrate your long awaited return home. While we miss you, we will meet again! Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Ottawa Inner-City Ministries, Jericho Road Ministries or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ottawa would be greatly appreciated. Obit
