The $20,000 Technology Venture Challenge
At the annual technology venture entrepreneurship challenge, students from Royal Military College of Canada, Algonquin, La Cité Collégiale, Carleton University, University of Ottawa, L’Université du Québec à Hull, Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College are invited to submit proposals for starting technology-based companies. The team whose proposal represents the most promising technology start-up opportunity will be awarded $10,000. Two runner-up teams will each receive $5,000. Canada Post has released its 2009 stamp program with a significant aviation milestone slated for recognition – the 100th anniversary of the first powered flight in Canada. On February 23,1909,the Silver Dart rose from the frozen waters of Bras d’Or Lake in Nova Scotia, and in 2009, Canada Post will mark the centenary with a stamp for the First Flight in Canada. Source

En effet, le 23 février 1909 s’envolait le Silver Dart depuis la surface gelée du lac Bras d’Or, en Nouvelle Écosse. Scholarship deadline looms
Friday, Jan. 16, is the deadline to apply for one of 14 scholarships for women studying engineering being offered this year by the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation. Scholarships, valued from $2,500 to the $15,000 Claudette MacKay-Lassonde scholarship for PhD candidates, will be awarded to students at the undergrad, master’s and PhD levels not for academic achievement, but on the basis of leadership, extracurricular activities and the ability to act as a role model for women to pursue a career in engineering.
