Results of the vote on the Merger of the RMC Club and the RMC Foundation / Résultats du vote sur la fusion du Club des CMR et de la Fondation des CMR

Thanks to the outstanding support of our members, the two great rivers that diverged fifty-five years ago can now come back together as one! At the joint special meeting held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, the merger of the RMC Club and the RMC Foundation into the Royal Military Colleges of Canada Alumni Association Inc. was approved by an overwhelming 99.5% of the members voting in person or by proxy.

There were 395 votes cast in person or by proxy at the joint special meeting, with 393 votes (or 99.5%) in favour of the merger, the name change, the amendments to the articles, the appointment of the new board of directors and the President, and all matters voted upon at the joint special meeting.

What does this mean for you, our members, as we move forward? The approval of the merger means we can now take steps to more effectively deliver both existing services to alumni and colleges, as well as implement new coordinated projects aimed at building camaraderie and fundraising. In short, with greater coordination, resources, and finances made possible by the merger, we’ll be able to enhance and grow alumni services and membership benefits. More details will follow as we work through the process of bringing the two organizations together on the ground but it is important for you to know that this merger will not negatively affect membership services in any way. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who, either publicly or behind the scenes, has helped to make this historic event a reality. In particular, the staff and boards of both the RMC Club and RMC Foundation, former Club Executive Director Bryan Bailey, and several ex-Cadets who offered their expertise. It has been a process just to get to this point, especially in a pandemic, and we would not be here without the efforts of so many ex-Cadets and volunteers. Thank you.

Grâce au soutien exceptionnel de nos membres, les deux grands fleuves qui ont divergé il y a cinquante-cinq ans peuvent maintenant revenir ensemble en un seul! Lors de la réunion extraordinaire conjointe tenue le jeudi, 7 octobre 2021, la fusion du Club des CMR et de la Fondation des CMR pour, l’Association des anciens et des anciennes du Collège militaire royal du Canada Inc., a été approuvée par une écrasante majorité de 99,5 % des membres votant en personne ou par procuration.

Il y a eu 395 votes exprimés en personne ou par procuration à l’assemblée extraordinaire conjointe, avec 393 votes (ou 99,5%) en faveur de la fusion, soit : le changement de nom, les modifications aux statuts, la nomination du nouveau conseil d’administration et de la présidente, et de toutes les questions pertinentes votées lors de la l’assemblée extraordinaire conjointe.

Pour nos membres, l’approbation de cette fusion signifie que nous pouvons maintenant agir pour offrir de meilleurs services aux diplômés et aux Collèges, et mettre en œuvre de nouveaux projets coordonnés visant à renforcer l’esprit de camaraderie et les activités de financement. En somme, puisque la fusion permettra une meilleure coordination des activités, une augmentation des ressources et une amélioration des finances, nous serons en mesure de bonifier les avantages aux membres et les services aux diplômés. Nous vous communiquerons plus de précisions tout au long du processus de fusion des deux organisations, mais sachez que celle-ci ne nuira en rien aux services offerts aux membres. Je profite de l’occasion pour remercier tous ceux et celles qui, tant en public que dans les coulisses, ont contribué à faire de cette fusion historique une réalité. Je remercie tout particulièrement les membres du personnel et du conseil d’administration du Club des CMR et de la Fondation des CMR, Bryan Bailey, ancien directeur exécutif du Club, et plusieurs anciens élèves-officiers qui ont mis à contribution leur expertise. Notre cheminement a été complexe, surtout en raison de la pandémie, et n’aurait pas abouti sans les efforts de nos nombreux bénévoles et anciens élèves-officiers. Merci.
