On September 25th, 2025, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa hosted the screening of Out Standing, a film adapted from Sandra Perron’s bestselling memoir, Out Standing In The Field: A Memoir by Canada’s First Female Infantry Officer. Directed by Melanie Charbonneau and co-written by Martine Pagé, this powerful screenplay captures Sandra Perron’s grit, resilience and her pioneering role in Canada’s military history.
The RMC Alumni Association was proud to sponsor the screening and is honoured to play a role in recognizing the remarkable contributions of Sandra Perron. Her trailblazing service as Canada’s first female infantry officer has paved the way for change at the Canadian Military Colleges and for women in defence more broadly.
All proceeds from the event went directly to supporting The Pepper Pod Centre for Women Veterans, a nationally recognized space of support and renewal for women who have served.
The RMC Alumni Association’s commitment to initiatives that honour the service of Canadian veterans is central to why we do what we do. By supporting this event, we work to advance the contributions of alumni and strengthen the experience of Officer and Naval Cadets at the Canadian Military Colleges by empowering all who walk their halls.
Through the sponsorship, the RMC Alumni Association will be recognized within the event program, during the screening, on The Pepper Pod website, and through social media. We are grateful for these opportunities and proud to support both The Pepper Pod’s mission and Sandra Perron’s story.

L’Association des anciens élèves du CMR est fière d’avoir parrainé la projection et est honorée de contribuer à la reconnaissance des contributions remarquables de Sandra Perron. Son service novateur en tant que première femme officier d’infanterie du Canada a ouvert la voie au changement dans les collèges militaires canadiens et, plus largement, pour les femmes dans le domaine de la défense.
