The Week That Was and More – Staff Perspective

  • Profs and Cadets are now at about the half-way point mid-term exams from what we understand they will wrap-up on the 23rd of this month;
  • A surprise Constantine ‘on ice’ visitor to the Paladins hockey practise last Tuesday was the boss himself;
  • Many of the College staffs attended mandatory harassment and ethics training on 13 – 14 Oct;
  • The Conference of Defence Associations Institute (CDAI) Graduate Symposium took place this past Thursday & Friday (15 & 16 Oct). The varied defence related topics were both engaging and important to furthering both defence scholarship and the CAF institution as a whole;
  • BGen Sean Friday, Commandant continued his formal visits around the College. He was also able to visit the RMCC Physics Department and got to see first-hand the quality work the Physics Department does to support both under-graduate and graduate students. He was very excited to hear about the many projects and ongoing studies; especially the budding observatory they are re-establishing on the Roof of Sawyer Building and RMCC’s contribution to the CanX7 Satellite Mission;
  • The RMCC Band Pipes and Drums travelled to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis for a Band Exchange over the weekend.

  • Thursday, October 15, marked an important date for the RMC Women’s Rugby team as they played their first game against Queen’s Engineers. Despite the cold weather, the girls persevered and put in their best efforts into the game. The team scored two tries their first try within the first very few minutes of the game, and with a lot of determination went on to score their second. However, with unfortunate weather, the game was cut short with a tie. With this moral victory, the Women’s Rugby team is working hard towards their next game later in the month.
  • This week was very important for the first year students as they got ready for their first midterms at RMC. Most students wrote their first ever university midterm exams this week. With one studious week down, students have one more week of midterms exams, after which they can resume the remainder of the fall term.
