The Class of 1963, as their gift to the College upon entry into the Old Brigade in 2009, created and donated to RMCC, a Wall of Honour to recognize ex-cadets of the Royal Military Colleges (RMC, RRMC, CMR) and others with College numbers for outstanding achievements and contributions to Canada or the world.

H8829 George Stanley, (left) celebrated Canadian military historian; Ramsey Withers, Korean Veteran and Chief of Defence; and Roméo Dallaire will join some distinguished company at Reunion Weekend when they have their plaques mounted on the Wall of Honour, bringing the total number of honorees to 24.

Longtime Reservist, Colonel Stanley taught for many years at RMC and offered a design for the Canadian flag which was adopted in 1965. He was later appointed Lt Governor of New Brunswick.

H2951 Ramsey Withers, (centre) became federal Deputy Minister of Transport after retiring as Chief Defence Staff. He helped to start the push towards a new War Museum in Ottawa and led a landmark study on the future of the military colleges.

H7860 Roméo Dallaire, (right) needs no introduction, but was credited with saving 30,000 lives in Rwanda, despite his peacekeeping force being essentially abandoned by the United Nations. He served as a Canadian Senator but has devoted his life, through his writings and other work, to saving child soldiers. He will attend this year’s investiture at the Wall of Honour at 1330 hrs, 26 September.

The three citations will be published over in a future Issue of e-Veritas.
