Indoor T&F – RMC Paladins Impressive!

The RMC Paladins opened their Track and Field season at the Dome at Louis Riel in Ottawa where the Ottawa Lions hosted the Super Saturday #2 Meet, with competitors including University athletes from the University of Ottawa, RMC, Queen’s, and St. Lawrence University (Canton, New York) as well as Club athletes from the Ottawa Lions and other Track Clubs from Eastern Ontario and Quebec. The stiff competition helped RMC runners push themselves, and gain competition experience.

In the 3000, Richard Hayes (photo above),  raced a 9:22:89 – a modern day record for RMC. Not having seen a high jump pit since finishing high school, Nicholas Tremblay cleared a 176 cm bar, coming in second overall.

There was no previous RMC performance listed for the High Jump event, so the record for Nick Tremblay is an initial Record performance.

(T&F records are only available since 1999)

RMC had an excellent first competition to their new season. Our athletes competed hard throughout the Meet – as they had opportunities to win in some race sections, to race using a race plan, to compete for positions in the drive to the finish line. Most importantly, many athletes learned about “how to race” and about their ability to compete, and their ability to apply their work from practice in a racing competition and generate quality personal results.

Not having seen a high jump pit since finishing high school, Nicholas Tremblay cleared a 176 cm bar, coming in second overall.

Next meet: Saturday January 22nd, Fred Foot Classic hosted by the University of Toronto.
