Board of Governors Meet at Royal Military College of Canada
The RMC Board of Governors met last week at RMC in Kingston. The first day largely consisted of discussions revolving a brief to the civilian members on their roles and responsibilities, and provide them with general knowledge of the CF, CMP, CDA and RMC. The meeting on Day two was a regular Board meeting.
The purpose of the 14 member Board is to review and advise the MND and the senior leadership of the College on the strategic direction of the College in support of the four components (pillars), and to approve the academic programme on behalf of the Minister. Board members also liaise with community stakeholders in order to strengthen the resources of the College.
The Board meets a minimum of two times per year and usually quarterly if possible. It also meets on an annual basis with Armed Forces Council.
The next meeting will be held at RMCC in February.

“Canada’s Security Interests”
The Conference of Defence Associations Institute held its 12th Annual Graduate Student Symposium at the Royal Military College of Canada in Currie Hall on October 30 and 31, 2009. The symposium hosted 36 graduate students from 17 Canadian and international academic institutions.
The Symposium was well attended and the audience was made up of academic, public and private professionals, students as well as military personnel.
This year’s Symposium was based on the theme “Canada’s Security Interests.” It provided graduate students with an excellent and unique opportunity to present scholarly works on security, defence or foreign policy-related issues in a public forum.
