“To the newest Royal Military College of Canada cadets, joining the Cadet Wing marks the successful end of FYOP, but also marks the start of the journey of continuing to strive for excellence across the four college components. As you proudly wear your new RMC cap badge, or guard your new College Coin as a proud new UTPNCM college member; these are symbols of an incredible constituency that connects you with the Old 18, reflect on the road ahead and commit yourself to the journey with every ounce of determination and effort possible. As Commandant of this marvellous college, I officially declare the end of FYOP 2013”

Truth, Duty, Valour.

The Tradition Continues

By: WJO

The Class of 2017 was formally welcomed into the Cadet Wing under sunny skies and mid summer temperatures. Most civilians in attendance were in shirt sleeves. Of course, military personnel were in full military uniform with medals. Blazer & tie were pretty much the order of the day for the many Ex Cadets in attendance

In front of a very large crowd many of whom were excited and proud friends and family; each First Year Cadet received his or her military college cap brass from a member of the Old Brigade. In a few exceptions the exchange was done by a proud military family member or a very close friend of the individual.

Soon after the “badging” the newly capped officer-cadets joined their respective Squadrons as full members of the Cadet Wing.

One could say members of The Class of 2017 just completed a month long sprint. They have proven and demonstrated that they have the potential to meet the challenges of the Royal Military College of Canada in what is definitely a marathon between now and May 2017.

Most will make it – some will not. All of them will require the total support of family and friends throughout the often stressful journey.

A number of timely speeches were delivered. With respect,  the major feedback we received  – “too many too long”. Second, …”the sound system was useless in many areas of the bleachers.”

Many prizes and awards were also handed out, to recognize achievements of Cadets during the last academic year. These awards, and the Cadets who received them, are listed below. We regret if we missed any. If we did – let us know.
