RCNC99 George Waite Stirling Brooks, Class of 1942

“BROOKS, G.W.S. (Bud) January 30th, 1925 – May 19th, 2022 George Waite Stirling, affectionately known as “Bud” Brooks was born on January 30th, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario. He lived a long and adventurous life, with distinguished career of 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, followed by 12 years as a teacher at Victoria High School, and 30+ as a globe-trotting retiree. He will be missed by wife Maggie, daughters Deborah, Diana, Cynthia (Gerry), and Rosemary (Keith); Benjamin (Alexis), Diana, Samantha, James (Annette), Patrick, Aeron, Laura and Maddelyn; great grandchildren: Michael (Danielle), Grace (Mike), Maddisyn, Eli, Piper, Cooper, and great-great grandchildren: Rosie, Avery, and Sophia.


4870 John Bird, RRMC RMC, Class of 1960

JOHN BIRD March 1, 1939 – June 1, 2022 Grandfather, husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbour, golf buddy, bowler, amateur chef, card player. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, John Bird, who passed away peacefully with us at his side at LACGH in Napanee on June 1, 2022. John is predeceased by his first wife, Isobel (nee Anderson, of Port Charlotte, Islay); and his brother, Dennis. Loving and caring father to Ian (Polina) of Vienna, Austria; and Fiona Anderson (Colin) of Dunblane, Scotland. Grandfather to Matthew, Savva, Louise and Sophia, whom he loved madly, each in their unique way. John is survived by his former wife, Joan House of Prince George, BC; his brother, Stuart; and sister, Valerie. We would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff on Kidd 9 at the Kingston General Hospital and at Bayshore TCU (Windsor Retirement Home) for their wonderful care of Dad in his final weeks. You made our Dad feel special. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the James Reid Funeral Home.
