4239 WHATMAN, Gordon G.

May 22, 1935, Peterborough, Ont., December 2, 2011, Westmount, Que.

Released from his long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Gordon is survived by his wife, Beryl Watson, daughters Hester (John), Lisa (Archie), Shannon (Mike), grandchildren Jack, Sam, Nashou, Niam, Bronwyn and Markus. Also survived by his brother John, sisters Theresa & Jacqueline and their families. After graduation from Royal Military College & University of Toronto with a BASc Engineering degree, Gordon served in the R.C.A.F. on Canada’s East Coast & after leaving the military, moved to Montreal to join IBM. With several years of marketing in the computer industry, he left to develop start up operations for U.S. computer firms looking for a foothold in the Canadian market. These associations precipitated a re- location to Toronto. Several years later, Gordon returned with his family to Montreal, where he founded Whatman Consultants Inc., as a principal partner in executive search serving business & industry. Gordon was a member of The Montreal Male Welsh Choir, the Westmount YMCA, an inactive member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders, a life member of the Royal Military College Club of Canada & other industry associations. Gordon will be remembered for his zest for life, his unfailing determination, the joy he found in music, his pride in his family and his great delivery of a punch line. The family wishes to thank the wonderful 4th floor staff & all the support staff at St. Margaret’s Residence for their compassionate care, A.G.I. for many years of support, the Bonnie Sandler group for ongoing support & the kindness of those who understood. A cremation has taken place and a memorial reception will be held on December 10, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont, Que. Jane Eloise (nee Saint) Downs – Wife of 5244 Tony Downs

DOWNS, Jane Eloise (nee Saint) – 1942 – 2011 KCVI, Diploma Kingston Business College Jane passed away unexpectedly at Kingston General Hospital, on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Beloved wife and best friend of Tony for 50 years, mother of Kathryn Downs McGuire (Dan McGuire), and Brenda Downs, devoted Grandma of Sam and Emilie, sister of Susan Saint, aunt of Leah and Damian, and daughter of the late Jack and Grace Saint. Jane was born and raised in Kingston. She attended Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute and the Kingston Business College. An ardent athlete, Jane curled, golfed, and played basketball and volleyball. She taught swimming and lifeguarded at Queen’s and various pools in the Kingston area until she met Tony and moved from Kingston. She enjoyed working in the retail sector and was a dedicated volunteer throughout her married life in the many places they called home across Canada. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston, ON, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place following the service at the Altar of Life at Cataraqui Cemetery. A reception will be held after the service in the James Reid Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Jane may be made to the Lung Association or the charity of your choice. Source
