Mel Dempster Presented with the Brian Holmes Materiel Group Mentoring Award
At a ceremony on Wednesday, July 3, DGMPD (Air), 17557 LCol (Ret’d) Troy Crosby (RMC 1991) presented 8026 Colonel (Ret’d) Mel Dempster (RMC 1969) with the Brian Holmes Materiel Group Mentoring Award. This award is given annually to a Materiel Group employee who has clearly displayed exceptional mentorship, support and guidance to employees. Mr. Dempster is the Deputy Project Manager with Airlift Capability Project – Tactical (ACP-T).
Mr. Dempster was described as the “consummate mentor”. “Using his supportive manner and sense of humour, he conveyed his knowledge and experience to new members of ACP-T in a way which promoted enthusiasm, motivation and an appreciation of the tasks we do.”
The award is presented in memory of Brian Holmes, a respected Senior Procurement Officer, who passed away in the spring of 2006 while employed in DGAEPM.

Au cours d’une cérémonie se déroulant le mercredi 3 juillet, le DGRGP (Air), M. Troy Crosby, a remis à M. Mel Dempster le prix de mentorat Brian Holmes du Groupe des matériels. Ce prix est décerné chaque année à un employé du Groupe des matériels ayant démontré un mentorat, un soutien et un encadrement exceptionnel envers les employés. M. Dempster est gestionnaire adjoint pour le projet de capacité de transport aérien – tactique (PCTA-T).
M. Dempster est décrit comme étant un « maître mentor ». « De par son sens de l’humour et son soutien, il a transmis ses connaissances et son expérience aux nouveaux membres du PCTA-T de façon à promouvoir l’enthousiasme, la motivation et l’appréciation des tâches que nous accomplissons ».
Ce prix est décerné en mémoire de Brian Holmes, un agent principal des achats très apprécié, qui est décédé au printemps 2006 alors qu’il travaillait à la DGGPEA.
